If you the kind of person that is motivated to develop new products you might
perceive yourself as being an inventor, new product developer, Design Engineer.

Your outlook on the world is like looking through a rainbow or glaring sun rays, you are optimistic and find that others might lack your sense of enthusiasm about the new product, invention or concept conceived. The Inventor must not forget to survey his product or invention for it licensing potential based on a market demand, if he does complete a survey of the demand for the invention then he will have to weigh many factors such as does he need to go any further with this particular invention or its time to go back to drawing board for a new concept etc.

Sometimes inventions can also create the growth or start-up potential of a service type business rather than just another product to market, however within any company  R/D(Research/Development) is an ongoing effort because without it a company is on a mission for failure. Some companies use independent inventors for aid with potential Research/Development , but there are others that are not receptive to outside R/D efforts. The potential that both Inventors and entrepreneurs share a driving force for something new, something publicly accepted and rewarding by matching incentive with capital and the process for an entrepreneur is repetitive and cyclic and should be , entrepreneurs sell business's everyday just to create something new. Inventors and Entrepreneurs can definitely learn and network together with others such Design Engineers, Marketing, R/D Departments of most companies in the name of know-how.

Good thoughts. On the other hand one essential thing is missing -> finance. Without proper - long term - funding the best idea is worth nothing.
Even you got a nicely designed and working product you need a lot more money and marketing people to create a demand.
For the trouble is, that if you invent something like I did many times before you have to find people that understand what you were doing and also also what benefit it can be to many others to come. An entrepreneur is not necessary an inventor or visa versa. Inside a company the development could be preformed faster then with third party's if not then being blocked off internally. Sort of "not invented here" or "who will blame us, for we couldn't do it ..." Another thing is steeling or altering ideas. I know all of that from many occasions. In the end mostly not the best product is presented, if any at all.

Christoph you are right in a indirect way in that inventors are not entrepreneurs, but they must become entrepreneural to think out ways of financing the invention as well as the business because inventing should not

be taken like a leisure hobby and the inventor should also look into custom manufacturing and contract outsourcing

only after surveying a market demand should the inventor decide to  take this step if survey is found to be favorable.
