Meet Damir Perge, Founder of Entrepreneurdex

Damir-rooftop Damir Perge: I founded Entrepreneurdex because I am a multi-venture entrepreneur. I'm an entrepreneurholic and people who know me will tell you I just can’t help myself. I live in the world of ideas but I'm not just a dreamer, I focus on bringing ideas to reality.

My brain can't stop coming up with ideas! Whether products, services, movies, books or ventures, they pop into my head every day. I can’t stop them, not that I want to. My biggest problem is sorting out the ideas and figuring out which ideas to bring to life.

I've been on both sides of the fence. I ran a venture fund and a publishing company. So I know what it's like to be an entrepreneur and I know what it’s like to invest and manage portfolio companies.

Being an entrepreneur is exciting. I can work 20 hours straight and not even feel the pain of the work, because work is fun and fun is work. I wish I could live a thousand years so I could start up and build a hundred different businesses.

Entrepreneurdex.com is for serious entrepreneurs. Membership is by invitation only. That doesn't mean we aren't going to have fun. Life is too short not to have fun.

This site is not for “wanna be” entrepreneurs looking to sell some multi-level service or product (unless you're the owner of the company) or some get rich quick scheme. Nothing against multi-level marketing entrepreneurs or get rich quick scheme entrepreneurs but there are plenty of other sites for them.

My vision is to build a community of serious entrepreneurs who love entrepreneurship and want to share with other successful entrepreneurs.

WPS = GL&GB?

Many successful ventures started up during recession or economic downturn and became huge conglomerates. Microsoft started during the economic down spiral. So did Federal Express. Starbucks too. The WPS started in April 2009. Will they make it or will it be “good luck and goodbye”? WPS is the Women’s Professional Soccer League in case you didn’t know. I wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t.

Wine Down?

A lot can be learned about entrepreneurship from the wine industry. With thousands of wineries across the world, it is a fragmented industry in some respects yet consolidated in others. There are major players, like E&J Gallo, appealing effectively to mass markets along and there are thousands of small wineries appealin

Entrepreneur Destiny

Recently, I was involved in a hit and run automobile accident. I was driving slowly through an intersection, during a storm, when some f&%#er in an SUV, going 40 mph, blindsided me from the right. My car was totaled and the other vehicle sped off. A few moments later, a second accident occurred at that intersection. The dumbass cops at first blamed me for the other accident, but luckily there were witnesses to confirm that my accid

Is Twitter Going to Make It?

Yes, I’m a twittpreneur. I don’t know what the f$#k that means because I’m still trying to figure out how we make any money from Twitter. Entrepreneurdex is on there as well. If you’re not familiar with Twitter, think of it as a micro-blogging service. It’s taken off like a rocket. It’s the next social media (MySpace, Facebook) phenomenon.

How Do You Value Your Business?

Donald Trump finally revealed his secret of how he values his businesses. The secret slipped out during a lawsuit he is in against a publisher of the upcoming book on Trump. Reading between the lines of the depositions, there's a lot of smoke and mirrors from The Donald, but there's a lot of truth and intelligence as well.

According to The Wall Street Journal, during his deposition, Trump stated:

Hi Damir, thanks for the message. If you know spanish sooner or later you will know portuguese. Main diference are in the accent.

Our idea is based in two factors : first the equipment will protect environment from cigarette buts, leaving the streets cleaned. Second it has an advertising space for extra revenues. It is working good in Europe as almost countries have restricted laws for ban smoking. I don´t think it can work in Africa, as the demand to have clean streets is not an issue, and by the other there is no restrictions to smoke. In USA it could be a good fit, as the restrictions to smoke are huge.

My main business is advertising, but I am always looking to alternative medias. That´s why I have cigarBINS. The electronic model will be an advantage because we can setup a digital signage model, and it will be easier to deploy adverts to all equipments. In Europe, specially in Portugal, digital signage is not very used as in USA.

As you have friends in this business area, perhaps you can help me to find a partner to setup an advertising network with cigarBINS, not only with static models but with electronic model too. Let me know your email and then I can mail you some pictures.

It will be my pleasure to chat with you. My skype id is xtwebware.

Joao Coelho

I wouldn't want to put a pin on specific countries, however East Africa is a force to recon with in development progress and with the long awaited East African Community (EAC) finally taking shape, (expected this July) there will be alot to reap in terms of investment, EAC will mean free movement of goods, services, as well as resources across five member countries,Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Burundi.

Uganda offers tax incentives depending on the level of investment and area of investment, for instance ICT equipment are not taxed during importation, and agriculture or energy sectors have plenty of incentives to offer. Otherwise, In my own analysis, I would say East Africa (5 countries) and South Africa, as well as Egypt are fertile grounds for investment. you are right to disregard Nigeria (419ers) and let me add Ghana, These are the thugs of Africa in every way imaginable. Depending on what sector you intend to invest in, the incentives will vary.

Dear Franc,

I don't believe in donations either. Entrepreneurship (wherever the location) is the only way forward in regards to progress. You would be surprised how much I know about Africa and why I personally believe in Africa. As I am raising my second venture fund, one of my discussion points has been investing big time into Africa. The problem with Africa is that there has been quite a few scams in certain countries that has ruined it for other countries. For instance, I would personally never invest into Nigeria. I d love playing futebol with Nigerians but I would never invest there.

Africa in my opinion is the last frontier and I would rather invest in Africa than for example China. My plans are to come to Africa after the venture fund is complete. I would look to come within the next few months. Perhaps, I can come to your country, meet with you and look at some investment opportunities. By the way, what countries in Africa do you think are good to fund businesses from a tax incentive. All the Best, Damir

You would be surprised Perge on the number of opportunities that await curious and adventurous investors in Africa. The mistaken mindset of the rest of the world about Africa is actually what is crippling the continent. Africa in general does not need "Donations". what Africa needs is "Investments". The continent has all the resources any investor would need including tax holidays.

This is the same situation that China was in Two decades ago. well of course if it wasn't for the government's intervention in which they trained various citizens in foreign developed countries and the incentives offered to investors, China wouldn't have been where it is now. Africa is still a virgin continent experiencing non-uniform growth due to insufficient funding. Angel investors are just beginning to sound in most African countries, and the few that have invested into Innovative projects have come to realize that they can't gobble every opportunity there is.

It's amazing how innovative Africans have become, but due to insufficient funds (Not Donations), Ideas are being killed, banks are not flexible enough to cater for Start-ups and SMEs. IPOs are becoming quite common and the people are beginning to see this as an easier means of earning Portfolio income that could help them run their start-Ups through to profitability.

Thank you for welcoming me into Entrepreneurdex. My business seems to be growing more now than ever before. I recently moved the location to a less expensive out of the way spot and it is growing with less effort. I believe that the staffing has had a positive influence and brings in more business that advertising in this small town. I am looking forward to expanding into other more specialized areas of my business.
