Cecilia_Thorfinn_Seq2_V1Interview with Cecilia Thorfinn, Founder of MummyMug

Entrepreneur Diva is a column that focuses on the lives and ventures of female entrepreneurs. We take a close look at the entrepreneurs behind the vision, strategy, passion and action in ventures across all sectors.

Mrs. Cecilia Thorfinn, founder and managing partner of MummyMug, could become the European version of Mary Kay Ash.1 If you don't know much about Mary Kay Ash, you should. Mary Kay founded Mary Kay Cosmetics and was one of the greatest female entrepreneurs in American business history. Mary Kay Ash created a multi-billion empire in the cosmetics sector that continues to flourish, and gave female entrepreneurs in America, and across the globe, courage, guidance and inspiration. Mary Kay was what I call an Entrepreneur Diva. My definition:

En·tre·pre·neur [ahn-truh-pruh-nur, -noor]: a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, esp. a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.

Di·va [dee-vuh, -vah]: distinguished female singer; prima donna.

Entrepreneur Diva [ahn-truh-pruh-nur,-noor, dee-vuh, -vah]: distinguished female entrepreneur who organizes and manages family, enterprise and environment with heart, passion and style.

After talking to Cecilia for more than ninety minutes on Skype, Entrepreneur Diva came to my mind for sure. It's fascinating to hear entrepreneurs describe their entrepreneur beginnings. Cecilia is a beautiful person inside and out and one thing you immediately notice is that she is a fast talker, enthusiastic and quick on her feet.2

On MummyMug.com, Cecilia calls herself an "accidental entrepreneur." When I told her I didn't believe there are accidental entrepreneurs she answered quickly, 'That's true. I described it that way because my first ten years of my working life I did something so totally different." She told me that when she's inspired by something she goes for it 110%. "Of course there aren't any accidents," she continued, "in the sense that I made a very conscious choice to switch to what I'm doing now because this idea simply took hold of me."

The pattern for all successful entrepreneurs, whether Entrepreneur Meister or Entrepreneur Diva is the same:

The idea, whatever it is, takes a hold of that person. It becomes an obsession and a mission to change the world.

Mary Kay was obsessed with selling cosmetics and providing an entrepreneur distribution platform for women across the world. Ted Turner was obsessed with forming a cable news channel, and he transformed global information and news forever. Henry Ford was obsessed with developing a car for the masses. Nikola Tesla was obsessed with bringing electricity to everyone. continued

[1] Mary Kay passed away in 2001 but her entrepreneur spirit continues today. God rest her soul.
[2] Damir Comment: Our interview was recorded and getting it transcribed was no easy matter because both of us talk fast and could have made a day out of it.
