Its been a long time I have been thinking on this. Every now and then you keep listening / watching on News about the disasters around the world. Katrina, Tsunami and the recent cloudburst at Leh are few to name.

Now coming to a basic reason behind such occurrences. In flow of energy at particular location that screws up the place. Cant think of simpler explanation.

Now coming to the thought that had been troubling me for few months now. How can I tap the energy from these natural calamities. Can we make huge machines which can absorb energy from these and save it for future use.

The strong reason I believe this is possible is because in smaller forms we are already doing it
> look at windmills - they tap energy out of winds
> the Dams built across the rivers

any thoughts in this direction people?

thank you Brent for the encouragement. Also thanks Jana for sharing your views. Really happy to see you having similar thoughts on this subject. I had been to confrences earlier and tried to put forth this idea. Not many people came forward , I think it was because of the mammoth size of idea. Imagine huge turbines being installed on the bay areas where hurricanes are frequent.

hope to hear a lot from you guys.

You are really thinking "outside the box." That's where great ideas and inventions come from. Imagine it and it can happen.

Can you image what people thought about the Wright brothers when they told people they were going to fly up in the air? No look at us.

Very interesting idea. Obviously there are areas that continually have hurricanes. If the places also typically use wind power, then perhaps the extra energy could be stored. Water may be too hard to predict but the normal force of the tides should be harnessed. -posted using entrepreneurdex mobile
