The 2007 James Berry Vineyard Paso Robles from Saxum Vineyards is quite possibly the best wine available anywhere today. So if you want to really impress an investor or potential partner, as a haute entrepreneur, go out and get a bottle or two.
The 2007 James Berry Vineyard Paso Robles is a blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah from a vineyard named for the winemaker's father. The three varieties are aged for 20 months in new and used barrels to produce a wine that is unsurpassed.
The wine is rich and layered, with flavors of raspberries and blackberries and hints of herbs and smooth dense tannins. The wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered. 950 cases were made.
About the winemaker: Justin Smith was 28 when he started making wine in Paso Robles, California, in 1998. The Central Coast climate and rocky limestone soils are one of the fastest growing, producing firm structured red Rhône varieties.
