Vinodaq | The Prisoner 2006
The Prisoner from Orin Swift is our first Vindaq Wine of the Day selection. It is one of our absolute all time favorites. This zinfandel blend got 93pts from the Wine Spectator. This ruby red wine opens with a wonderful bouquet of berries. The flavors are a smooth, complex blend of blackberries, spices and fresh tobacco. We did not decant and we can't imagine it could have been any more delicious -- but others say to decant for at least one hour for best experience.
The blend includes 52% Zinfandel, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Sirah 6% Charbono and 2% Grenache. From Napa Valley, California.
We were fortunate to find a 2006 on sale for only $25. If you can't find a 2006, grab a 2008 which received 92 pts. We noticed this wine was featured more than once on the TV series "Cougar Town." What wines do you recommend? Please give us your comments below.
